In the third installment of AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir, Laia, the Blood Shrike, and Elias fight for their lives and their people while threats surround them on every side. Marcus, the Nightbringer, and Keris are plotting, and only the power of their efforts unified will save their people and their world. As their enemies grow in power, the three opposed forces will have to learn to give up their dreams in order to save what they love, or lose what they love to overcome what they lost.
This book was phenomenal, as are all of the books I've read by Sabaa Tahir so far. The characterization is stunning, the world is deep, and the magic is breathtaking. I loved every second of reading this book and exploring more of the world which encapsulates Laia and all other members of the cast. Featuring vivid prose, gut-clenching action, and stakes so deep they're like nails in flesh, this book is for readers who are fans of series like Throne Of Glass, Realm Breaker, and dozens of other epics in the fantasy genre.
The main problem I had with this manuscript was the fact that it had quite a few setting plot holes in minor scenes. The characters would say something like "we're not close to the bed... we're in the hall" and then a line later they'd be on the bed in the room they just said they weren't inside of. Otherwise, it was a wonderfully immersive read.
