The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek

4.0

This feels like such a simple idea, but actually is really well fleshed out by Sinek in this book. If you go into life or business with a mindset of trying to 'win', then you are only planning for / caring about the short-term. You expect there to be a stage where your points will be tallied and all that matters is that you're better than those around you. It leads to you not thinking about the real long-term and also seeing competition as a negative thing to be overcome and eventually gotten rid of.

The alternative isn't easy... and there are a few parts of this book that are a bit too vague / give out individual anecdotes as examples, rather than properly defining setting out how to get into infinite game thinking... but overall it's pretty inspiring and isn't just related to thinking about business, but our approach to life more generally.
