The Running Man
by Stephen King, Richard Bachman
Stephen King’s writings as Bachman so clearly display the WTFery of his alcohol and drug hazed days. I mean…every King fan knows it. But it’s been decades since I’ve read his early works. Also…in my younger years, there’s definitely things that I didn’t care as much about as I should. But man…some of these books don’t age well in terms of the shit that flies out his characters’ mouths.
Anyways. Running Man is a slow start but gets pretty good. No spoilers except that the movies in the 80s does not really follow the book. But I wanted to read this again in preparation for the new movie. So glad we don’t live in a society as bad as Running Man’s 2025. But. Ha. Doesn’t always feel like a far fetched idea.
