28 Days: A Novel of Resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto by David Safier

3.0

This YA book is a realistic and emotional portrayal of life and death in the Warsaw ghetto. It is the story of Jews who fought not only to survive, but also actively fought back with violence against the Nazis. The story includes a story of an imaginary world alongside the real world that helps the characters cope with their situation, but I appreciated the historical story line much more. This is a story not only of the horror of the Holocaust but also of the combination of desperation and hope of people who refused to give up in the face of overwhelming odds.
