Rink Rash by Santana Knox
4.5

Rink Rash by Santana Knox is a sapphic sports romance. It happens to be my favorite sport - ROLLER DERBY! I was a part of the roller derby world for many years, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. This book deals with sensitive topics like grief (the loss of a loved one), addiction, and mental health.

The book focuses on Vera Havik, who returns to her old hometown, bringing with her not only a heavy weight on her shoulders but also a terrible addiction. When she rejoins her old derby team, expecting to be reunited with her best friend, she is given heart-wrenching news that sends her spiraling further into a little baggy. She is not met with open arms when it comes to Madeline Maddox. Maddox is the team captain and star jammer, and she views Havik as competition.

The story is so much more than just roller derby. It’s about dealing with grief, accepting help, recovery, and love. I always love a good enemies-to-lovers story. While the book has some nice spicy moments, it is not a smutty book. The book has some awesome side characters, too!

Thanks to Santana Knox for gifting me an eARC of Rink Rash. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
