The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
4.0
4.25 stars. Wow. I love the bodyguard trope, but it was made even more interesting because the author decided to flip the trope on its head by having the female protagonist be the guard in this scenario, which obviously led to some hilarious shenanigans. For example, Jack couldn’t believe someone like Hannah could possibly hold her own against a man 3x her size, so she had to give Jack a demonstration by taking him down. She also had to pose as his fake girlfriend because his mom was going through some health issues and they didn’t want to scare her and thus cause her more stress because Jack needed a bodyguard.
And while usually I’m not the biggest fan of the “one of us is famous” trope, it worked PERFECTLY in this story. All of the moments between Jack and Hannah were adorable and sweet, and I couldn’t get enough of the two! The story was also unexpectedly heartbreaking at points, but I loved every second of it. Definitely going to be picking up more from this author.
