I enjoyed the author’s voice and was immediately drawn into the story. This was the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. If you like Holly Black’s writing style and story content, you’ll like how Poppy Woods spins a tale.
The character development is quite unique and all are relatable—even the power hungry characters. The only thing I would have liked to have seen more of (though it wasn’t really necessary) was more villain development. It didn’t effect my overall feel for the book though and doesn’t change my rating.
It’s been a while since I read a book that took me out of my reality and offered a pleasant escape. This book did that. Well done, Poppy Woods! I’m looking for more of your work as soon as I finish this review!
