Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

5.0

dude this shit is craaaaazy

jason rekulak really knows how to tell a story. the suspense, the drama, the unreliability of it all. i loved this book, i thought mallory was a great protagonist and i liked the slow reveal of her backstory. she's a great level headed main character even while crazy shit keeps happening around her. her relationships with caroline and ted and teddy were so good, i don't want to say more and spoil but it all felt so well set up in retrospect.

the pictures!!! the pictures were excellent, i loved teddy's drawings, they were so unsettling and i've definitely had one of my five yr old students draw in that same style so points for believability. as helpful as anya's later portraits were, i will always love the first few in teddy's hand.

this book will for sure get you out of a reading funk, i absolutely tore thru this.
