Changeless by Gail Carriger
3.0

It saddens me how disappointed I was by this book, especially after how much I loved the first book in this series, 'Soulless'.

We still had lots of sass and charming banter - I also want my boyfriend to call me "my little terror"- but in my opinion, there wasn't really much more. The mystery felt weak, I couldn't really connect to any of the newly introduced characters (except for the awesome Madame Lefoux) and there was far too little steaminess. Even Alexia wasn't quite as great as she had once been.

I quickly got tired of all the silliness - honestly, there were so many annoying characters that I just wanted to smack - and almost decided that this would be the last book in this series for me, when suddenly something made me change my mind.

There was supposedly a plot twist in this book, which I could see literally miles away. It was so predictable, and when it was revealed at the end of the book, I almost obviously wasn't extremely into it - but then Carriger surprised me, and twisted that boring little twist and made it into something actually very interesting and shocking - and now I simply must read the next installment.

Also, one of my lovely friends told me that it does pick up again in the next book - so now I am feeling a bit excited. I really hope that Carriger won't disappoint me again and give me more of what I much loved in 'Soulless'. Let's keep our fingers crossed and pray for sweet Alexia's health.
