Sacred Serenity by Audrey Carlan

5.0

The Lotus House series has to be one of the coolest and most unique concepts I've seen for romance in a while--and this book stands worthy of its overarching concept, that embracing our sensual selves is a lot more "godlike" than we think. To prove the point, Ms. Carlan has matched up two of the most unlikely lovers: a Tantric yoga teacher with sexuality to burn, and a good girl pre-med student saving herself for the big step of marriage. Dear LORD, how I loved their conflict!
After a first act set-up of both Dash and Amber, the book gets really meaty, and tackles some of the deepest questions of not only their relationship, but love and spirituality as a whole. In a day and age when commitment and people are exchanged out like pairs of underwear, how does one define that with the person you're clearly destined to be with? What IS the definition of being truly bound to someone? Is it really a piece of paper, or something tattooed deeper into our souls?
Ms. Carlan looks at all this and more, mixing the story in with gorgeous scenes of passion, angst, need--and yes, her trademark mix of humor and heart!--making this one of the best books of her career. A wonderful, wicked, and wildly hot read. Now I'm going to go sign up for some yoga classes!!
