This book had a lot of hype surrounding it so I was skeptical about it. Well, it certainly lives up to the hype. Paedyn grew up in the Slums without any powers in a world that is ruled by Elites. Very early on, you learn the king killed her father and when she finds herself drafted into the Trials, she comes face-to-face with both his sons who are nothing like him. Kai, the future Enforcer and Kitt the future King are two princes with all the power but Pae finds out she is not so powerless after all. I really loved both POVs and the narrators for both Pae and Kai were superb.
