this was an exceptional book. I was truly surprised by it.
it's definitely along the lines of the classic dystopians we had to read in high school, but with an exciting, modern take. I absolutely loved the setting, the issues brought to light, and the overall sense of dread that remained.
Takeshi is such a unique character. I like how he stayed cold and impassive. no sudden personality shift. he's exactly as he claims, and i adore it. Khalani has such an immense journey here. I can't wait to see where she goes and what she's willing to do, and give up, to get there.
the author writes so beautifully, so savagely. she's going to be an insta-buy for me. outstanding work, Alexis Patton!
