This was so fun. I feel like there’s a subgenre of thrillers that doesn’t have a term (to my knowledge) but it’s a step above a cozy mystery, but it’s below a “thriller” because there’s so much humor. This also had some light social commentary throughout, which is a favorite of mine. This would be a great book for a reading slump because every chapter has a slight cliffhanger or tease moment. It also has that told from the future state element every now and then which gives nice foreshadowing and encourages you to read on. And the ending... ... ... I saw SOME of it coming, but definitely not all of it... and I was CACKLING in the hallway outside of Jes’ gymnastics class. Not a five-star read, but a HELLA fun read.
Some “If you liked” style comparisons: If you liked her first book, this will definitely be up your alley. Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon is also similar in the silly but compulsively readable but also a few really well written lines aspect.
