This was a really enjoyable conclusion to the series full of both laughter and sadness. The characters are all so well defined and you even get some character development from the side characters. A magical realism genre story arc where humans and supernatural creatures are trying to prevent the ultimate catastrophe. You have the lovers Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei who are the pivot points in averting this tragedy. It reads like a thriller at parts where they and their cohorts (mostly supernatural ones) must try to survive supernatural attacks while trying to prevent a great seal from breaking. There are betrayals and deception but the overall drive is the mindset of Zhao Yunlan who is convinced there has to be a way to solve the problem without losing his love in the process.
