You Are Here
by David Nicholls
medium-paced
“You Are Here” by David Nicholls is a backpacking adventure through the mountains of Northern England with two drifting souls.
When Michael decides to walk it out, his friend invites herself on his outdoorsy trip with a few extra friends. In the comforts of nature, he opens up and reveals what’s been bothering him.
This book has cute back and forth banter and quirky descriptions. I’ve been toying over this quote:
“There is who we want to be…and there is who we are. As we get older the former gives way to the latter.”
I wasn’t a huge fan of the main character guy and didn’t like how he handled certain scenarios. However, I appreciated the realness the book had in choosing this approach. Overall, a nice light read to make you want to lace up your shoes and visit Mother Nature.
