My Vampire Knight reviews are getting quite repetitive at this point, but oh well. I am still mixing up characters and am not sure about everything that is happening. This thirteenth volume has the big reveal that Kaname is not actually Yuki’s brother but a century old vampire that is Yuki’s ancestor and who took over the body of Yuki’s brother when he was still an infant … that doesn’t make it better and less creepy. I still dislike the shipping and I’m afraid that they’ll be endgame . Another problem I have with the story is that it’s teasing so many interesting conflicts but never goes through with them.
Like I’ve mentioned before, I appreciate the friendship between Yuki and Aido and I wish it would be explored more. It’s also nice that Zero is back and that Yuki and him almost kissed . The moments I enjoyed in this volume included him; him visiting the grave of his brother was quite sad and the graveyard was such an atmospheric setting, like most of the settings in the series. What I still dislike about Yuki’s character though is that she’s very passive; to be honest, every character is more interesting than Yuki and Kaname.
