Art Matters: Because Your Imagination Can Change the World by Neil Gaiman

5.0

5 stars || read this far too late considering I've been using the recording of Neil Gaiman's 2012 commencement speech for UA as an auditory remedy for my seasonal creative slumps for years atp

a good read for everyone, yes, but an absolute must-read for anyone who has turned their passions into their main means of income, and wants to be reinvigorated with the same rush of delight they'd feel when making something as a child. In terms of how much it inspires in such a short number of pages, I'd argue it belongs on the same shelf as Saint-Exupéry's Little Prince himself. A joy to read (Gaiman), and a joy to see (Riddell).

I only cried three times during it.
