Carry On
by Rainbow Rowell
The characters make this novel; you'll miss SnowBaz and the World of Mages the moment you close the cover.
The unique form of magic displayed within Carry On felt fresh as well, and the Potter-esque insider-jokes were clever at every turn.
I didn't much care for the resolution, and by that I mean I didn't care one way or another how it all turned out. The villain never grabbed me, so by the end I wasn't interested in understanding how the Insidious Humdrum created his dead spots, or if Simon Snow was a baddie or a goodie. All I cared about was SnowBaz, AKA the terrible boyfriends, and Hermione Granger of the Tumblr generation, Penelope Bunch.
I would absolutely read another Simon Snow novel; I might read six more if Rowell chose to write them!
Finally, nothing will ever be better, cuter, or elicit more squeals from me than Baz Grimm-Pitch holding his boyfriend's tail. Nothing.
