Determined to avenge a friend's death, the heroine drags the hero into an outlandish revenge scheme that creates a comedy of errors as he attempts to thwart her at every instance (for her safety). The mystery aspect is a little heavier than AQ's usual - a number of shady characters/events, and it all ties up well. The heroine is smart and amusing but her naivety is a disservice at times. The hero is the tortured, broody and super protective alpha that just my kind of guy.
Their romance works well for me, falling in love amidst scholarly squabbles to cooking/uncooking schemes and investigating murders. I love her faith in him and how fiercely she defends him, and I love how he sees her as the salvation to his loneliness. There's a running joke about weak nerves that the hero plays it up to his advantage, which is quite funny. Really enjoyed the read.
