Cash lives life day by day in his small Appalachian town, going to school, mowing lawns, and spending time with his grandparents and best friend Delaney. Neither one of them had it very easy growing up, both dealing with parents that have drug addictions. Delaney is as smart as a whip and always teaching him and his grandpa new things. But Cash's grandpa is very sick, and both Cash and Delaney would like to see him improve. It was last summer that together they discovered a new antibiotic that might be able to help a lot of people. It was hidden in a cave, and thanks to Delaney's smarts and Cash's bravery they were able to get it to scientists. That gives them the opportunity to maybe leave Sawyer and go on a new adventure to a highly rated private school, a new start of sorts. But will Cash take the opportunity and leave his grandparents behind, or will he make Delaney go away on her own?
