I was completely blown away by this read. I needed a couple days to reflect on it all before writing my review. It took me a little bit to get into the read but once I did I was absolutely hooked. The first quarter is a lot of world-building but it is definitely needed. There is a lot of political knowledge we needed to know before getting to the juicy bits.
Elora was an amazing FMC. Her loyalty to her people and the people she cares about was unmatched. Willing to sacrifice herself because she felt she needed to right her father’s wrongs. Her way of thinking and decision making were exactly how I would do things. She had put up with so much in her life and still continued to be such a good and pure person. She deserved finding Fin, Irina, and Honora. She needed to see that others could love her for who she was. Fin was a really cool MMC to read from. His POV helped a lot throughout the story. He was a little too Alpha-male for my liking but I think he got better throughout the story. Realizing he isn’t alone in this. The side characters were all super interesting and I wouldn’t mind reading more reads based off their stories. My favorite character by far was Irina. She was such a bad ass and knew everyone around her deserved better. She would fight for her family (except her father of course) until the end. She and Elora needed each other in their lives.
This story was beyond exciting. There was so much pain these characters needed to go through but at the end chose to fight through it and prevail. Together they could get through it. There were so many twists and turns in this read but it was so much fun! I am so excited to see how things go in book two. Book one was very much focused on world building and romance with some fantasy elements mixed in. It looks like book 2 will have a lot more fantasy mixed in and I’m here for it! This is my first read by this author and I will 100% be coming back for me.
