This was a story I picked up because the description of what it was about sounded outlandish. Let me assure you: it was outlandish. And pretty fun to read at the same time, so that was a plus.

It’s a hard sci-fi with all the terms that come with it, so be ready to plunge head first into terminology that will make you scratch your head. Not a lot of it is explained, so you’ll have to really figure it out for yourself and assume you’re right. If you’re good with that, story will flow smoothly.

I enjoyed the slow burn of a main character unveil. You get an idea that she isn’t who she appears to be right from the start and then when you figure it out, a whole new world of sci-if history opens up. It’s actually a pretty nice hook, if you ask me.

There’s plenty of action. Crazy action, with all of those hard sci-if terms that everyone will be imagining in a different way. Pretty creative. There are also cats. Unusual cats, (trying to avoid spoilers here), cyborg friends and ants. Also unusual ants (trying to avoid spoilers here too!).

All in all, it was a fun, short distraction read in between the books, that’s for sure.
