I read all 4 books (the ones that are out so far) of the D.C. stars series within less than a week. From book 1 with the hinting of Riley pining after Lexi I was really excited for their book, especially with it being around a limb amputation recovery.
I really enjoyed that part of the story and most of the romance part. However, sometimes it felt a bit flat and with it I think I mean Lexi. I am not fully sure on that part though. I also think we could've shortened some sex scenes and swapped them for something else - like him picking up Lexi in his car when he learned to drive again or one of his bad days later in the book.
I am not at all saying I didn't enjoy the book. I liked all 4 of them and the MCs of all of the books.
However, I would kind of wish for more diversity when it comes to sexuality/gender (LGBTQIA+), race and or religion. The books feel pretty inclusive because of the feminist FMCs and the disabilities, but besides that, they all seem to be white, athletic body sized (yes I know we have mom's in there but that doesn't count enough imo) and straight. Not even a bi or pan person with their book being about a MF relationship, that can tell us about a queer relationship in the past. Or best friend/sibling/parents that are queer?
Anyways, this is the way I start to think after reading 4 non queer books back to back. I know what I got myself into before starting them. I just had some hope that didn't get fulfilled until now.
