The Children of Men
by P.D. James
I liked the movie more, how often does that happen? But I appreciated both how singular the book was, and the excellent job done in adapting it. Sometimes a book is a great jumping off point; you don't have to follow the source material slavishly.
This was my first James but certainly not my last. I have to say, for this kind of book, I still prefer The Road. But I'm weird like that.
