funny

The art is nice, the concept is interesting, I like the characters, and I thought it was pretty funny.

The problem? It took me over halfway into the book for me to actually start enjoying it. Up until that point I found the story boring and at times annoying.

It doesn't help that even though this first volume is so long it feels like little actually happens.

Also, the way the story was being told could be confusing at times. There were so many scenes where I felt lost because what was happening wasn't clear or was being told in a convoluted way.

The biggest issue I had with this manhua was the fact that there was too much happening on each page. It made it both hard and frustrating to read. I set this book down many times because I got exhausted reading it. It also just made the pages look chaotic with everything the artist was jamming onto them. The YiLiang's Diary sections were the worst offenders.

Even though I ended up enjoying the story I have no desire to continue when I think about having to read those chaotic looking pages. I never thought paneling and layout would be something to deter me from a comic but here we are.
