Doctor Who: The Nightmare of Black Island by Mike Tucker

4.0

This was an interesting Doctor Who book, I feel like very little happened in the story and yet it similar to others in the series. The concept was interesting enough though; aliens harness children’s nightmares, making them take form, in order to create a terrifying body for their ‘god’ who’s mind has been trapped within that of eight humans.
I found it a bit weird how the children accepted Rose into their gang, she may not quite be an adult but she certainly isn’t as young as all the children in the village. However I did like the children, particularly Ali. Ali was the real heroine of this story, if it wasn’t for her
SpoilerRose would have remained trapped in the mansion, and they wouldn’t have been able to turn the aliens machine off.

I liked the fact that Bronwyn was made young again; so that she can enjoy her life now that she is no longer tormented by have part of an alien’s mind trapped inside of her. It was a little unusual that she also ended up pregnant, presumably with a replacement Jimmy, I’m not quite sure how the alien’s machine backfiring was supposed to have caused that.
I enjoyed this book for a bit of light reading and in total it receives three stars.
