Métro 2035 by Dmitry Glukhovsky

1.0

If you enjoyed Metro 2033, don't bother reading this. Everything likeable about the first book is gone; no monsters, no mystery, no sense of danger coming from the metro or the surface. Everyone is able to travel anywhere easily without breaking a sweat.

SpoilerThis deserves nothing but a 1★ for all these horrendous characters. Artyom was already boring in the first book but it somehow gets worse in this one. One top of that, every single female character has either a sex scene or gets raped/sexually abused. I understand sexual violence is used as a plot device to show how bad the baddies are but the frequency of it and the amount of unnecessary details makes you wonder if the author used one hand to write this shit.

Metro 2033 should've remained a stand-alone release with "The Gospel According to Artyom" being enough as a sequel.
