Maybe biographies aren't for me but I didn't enjoy the first half but did enjoy the second. Boehner has a lot of great personal stories, I particularly enjoyed the one about the knife being pulled on him by another congressman, but somehow they feel disorganized in the first half, but lend to the narrative in the second half.

It's also difficult to take in because at moments you think, "Hey he's not such a bad guy, and would make for an interesting conversation," and the next moment is him talking about how people making 400k-1mil shouldn't have their taxes raised and the need to cut back on social programs. He tries to be relatable with his stories of growing up in Ohio, his love for a good golf game, and his own failings, but then any relatability is lost when he says something like "actually, lobbying is good!"

Probably won't read this again, but it's an interesting insight into a dying breed of Republican.
