With Fangs and Claws
by Sam Hall
With Fangs and Claws is the start of a new fantasy series. I don’t know why, but finishing this book is almost therapeutic. I have been craving fantasy romance books since reading From Blood and Ash. Throw in Sam Hall’s signature writing style and Viking-esque werewolves? This is a book you’ll want to read.
Darcy is a lord’s daughter, raised in a society that is admittedly not the kindest to womenkind. She’s come of age, knowing that her future is inevitable, and rebels in whatever subtle ways she can. It all changes when she meets the Strelan princes. Claiming she’s their mate, they strike a deal with her father and bring her home with them.
Her life is irrevocably changed. I know, cliche to say that, but there is more to this story than meets the eye. Sam wrote a complex story, diving deep in to fantasy tropes, and brings us a tale that will wring the emotions out of you, clawing for more. I need more while also needing a palate cleanser she discussed in the end note.
Gael is, I think, my favorite of the men. While Weyland, Dane, and Axe are also loveable and great in their own ways, my heart pulls for Gael. Pepin and Nordred are both great side characters and I’m looking forward to seeing how the second book plays out.
4.5⭐️
