Othello by William Shakespeare
4.0
i think i will wonder about the intended futility of othello for the rest of my life. there's no reason for why the story unfolds into tragedy.
also, almost all the characters behave as if they are being led to their fate involuntarily. the mark of destiny seems to be almost an unacknowledged fact in "othello".
the story also continously employs paradoxes in the characters with how they are supposed to behave according to everyone and how they actually behave. like, how Desdemona is described as angel-like, compliant and passive but she also had a strong will which she used at decisive times like when she married othello ; Iago is considered faithful and noble by everyone, but he bears animosity to almost every person he has anything to do with ; Othello is considered a great orator and his nature is considered noble, but a jealous othello is rash, harsh, and infirm in speech.
