The Tell-Tale Brain: A Neuroscientist's Quest for What Makes Us Human by V. S. Ramachandran

4.0

An entertaining and informative book filled with both solid science and clever speculations from the author, a respected neuroscientist. The writing is polished and professional, and the author is careful to note after presenting each personally witnessed anecdote that "a placebo controlled study would be necessary for confirmation" of his observations. Yes, there are a few passages that are more cutesy than serious - one in particular goes off on a somewhat irrelevant tangent! - and a few more in which the language borders on hype, but for the most part he sticks to the facts, and overall I found the book fascinating and enjoyable.
