"Lovesick goobers."

I finally bucked down and started Kelly Fox's the Lost Boys series. I started with the prequel novella, The Thief.

Honestly, what's cuter than a social media flirt campaign?

Joel, the hottie bartender, has it bad for the barista next door, Tristan. Tristan's love lies in social media and politics, so Joel starts a month long campaign of flirting over social media to get his attention.

It totally works.

This story does a great job of setting up the series. What we're looking at:

❤️ found family
❤️ small town Texas
❤️ being queer in a small town
❤️ an aging and possibly ill father-type figure
❤️ a ton of Lost Boy characters that will find their own HEAs as the series goes on

Everything will come together in classic Kelly Fox style, which means HUMOR and ROMANCE and plenty of STEAM.

I enjoyed Tristan and Joel's "lesbian-speed" romance. I loved how into each other they both were. Both mc's were engaging, and I really look forward to starting The Skeptic.
