The Motivation Myth: How High Achievers Really Set Themselves Up to Win by Jeff Haden

3.0

As far as self-help books go, this one was lighter than normal on "you can do it--just try!" I found his central idea possibly useful: set a goal, but don't work towards it. Use it as a more abstract motivation, as something to pull towards, but don't keep measuring yourself against it. If the goal is large enough to be worthwhile, you'll just get discouraged by how far you are from it. So set it and then get into a habit of doing the things that move you towards it.
