The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
Did not finish book.
“First, there was trust. Then, there was betrayal. You cannot have one without the other. You cannot be betrayed by someone you do not trust."

In the 1700s, Nella sells potions to women to help them get away from their dreadful situations by killing the men in their lives. In the present day, Caroline discovers her husband had been cheating on her and chanced upon a vial which she traced back from the "apothecary" murders in the past. Could these two women's fate be connected?

Rating: ★ (DNF)
First of all, can we talk about that beautiful cover? Unfortunately, my liking for this book stopped there. I had high hopes for this book, and I was more disappointed because I gave up on this book.

The things that I like
☽ I loved the premise of this book. Apothecary saving women from abusive relationships? I'll buy it! A connection between the past and the present? I love it too!
I hoped there had been something else in this book other than a great premise.

The things that I DID NOT like
☾ Too slow. This had to be my main problem with the book. In my opinion, the chapters were stretched. There were too many conversations going on. I felt the drag when Caroline was researching about the vial.
Maybe I had been too impatient?
☾ The narration. Maybe the audiobook narrator made me realize that I do not love the book as much as I thought I would. I did not like the voices of the character and made me lose interest in the story.

In sum:
I did not finish the book. Hence, not entitled to make a complete judgement. I hope that other readers enjoyed this better than I did.
If you like stories with past and present narrations, I would recommend this book to you. Also, if you're a life-long mystery lover.
