Kind of a cozy police procedural, if there is such a sub-genre. Working mom sherriff deals with teen angst, work-life balance, and the high school principal's murder. I wish mystery writers would get over the prolog-from-the-perspective-of-the-murderer and just develop the crime as the main character sees it, it adds very little. The murderer in this case didn't really participate in the story at all until the end, another flaw but probably just as well as he wasn't really all that interesting as presented. Could have been ...
