Baby Love by Jacqueline Wilson

dark hopeful sad fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? It's complicated
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.5

I can't keep pretending that I'm reading Jaqueline Wilson for nostalgia alone after I had this on reserve for ages at the library, eagerly anticipating reading it haha

As another review mentioned it is quite bizarre that like 30 years on and no matter the age, time period or situation all the characters speak in the exact same way (at one stage Laura says "cool cat" to herself in the mirror like???)

I was enjoying the story despite the language but then
the ending when the magic and amazing aunty magically appears was just a bit ....silly like oh
but it got me researching the whole concept of mother and baby homes which I guess was the whole point

Either way I couldn't stop reading and had it finished in one day so I shouldn't complain too much!
