Funny Story by Emily Henry
3.0
Henry’s newest novel navigates themes of family disappointment, friend disappointment and relationship disappointment – how much do we chalk up to being the other person's fault and how much of the onus is on us to expect such behavior based on the person's track record, (or is that being too cynical).
Daphne Vincent recently had her wedding called off and her fiance, Peter Collins stolen out from under her nose by his very best (female) friend Petra. And as the prophets have said, a man so easily stolen was perhaps never your man to begin with. Peter and Petra, Petra and Peter, the alliteration is almost too much to bare. However romantic it may sound, realizing your true feelings for your childhood best friend will still leave many (your significant others included) in the lurch.
Miles being half of that leftover party. Miles and Daphne move in. Miles teaches Daphne that the world still has color in it. Daphne teaches Miles to show up for people in his life that he cares about. Bada bing bada boom….bada bone…
