A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer
2.0

I've bought this book from the beginning of February and I haven't pick it up until now. Usually I will read it immediately after it arrived. But, it wasn't the case with this one. Before I wanted to read it, I've read several reviews and I didn't think I would be satisfied to how this series turned out. That's why I postponed it for a while. Finally, I was able to pick it up while hoping that it wasn't as bad as I feared.

I shouldn't have any expectation with this one because it was just as I feared it would be.
The writing style and the pacing was good and I was glad for one thing that we actually got to see what happen with Rhen and Harper because in the second book we didn't really get to see them much.

However, I was expecting action and stuff but this turn out to have a lot of explanation and just talking what happens on both side, separately. I was hoping that there will be a good solution for Rhen and Grey so that they can be at peace. Like why didn't Rhen and Harper rule Emberfall and Lia with Grey rule Shyll Shallow ?? I didn't really understand why the people insisted Grey has to take his throne in Emberfall when there's another win-win solution which won't result in another war.

I still can't believe this one was supposed to be the conclusion of the series when the ending suggested there are still new problems left unresolved. The ending didn't really give me that satisfying feeling for all of them to have the happy ending they deserve.

I love the first book and I thought it was a great one, but I didn't have the same opinion with the second book and was hoping for a good conclusion to the series. However, after reading this I didn't think this one deserved to be a proper conclusion to the series.
