The United States of Cryptids: A Tour of American Myths and Monsters by J.W. Ocker

4.0

What a genuinely fun read. Whether you believe in cryptids or not, I think everyone could find entertainment in this compilation of folklore from across the states. It covers reported sightings ranging from ancient times to 2021 TikTok uploads, from the classic Bigfoot to the indigenous Thunderbird. Make sure you keep your phone nearby when reading this; I guarantee you'll be itching to look up every photo, video, and piece of art mentioned.

If there's one thing this book taught me, it's that I'm missing out on a lot of cryptid festivals.
