Thank you to the author, Jeremy Ray, for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for a review! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Houseplant is such a unique story told from the perspective of George, a fern who hates humans. Humans are plotting to torture plants and kill them. George is taken home by a women named Brenda who has no idea what she is doing. George is dying, until one day Brenda learns to take care of him. She gives him the right amount of water, sunlight, and care. Brenda absolutely adores George. One day, Brenda is gone in an instant. George begins to grieve the one thing he never wanted.
This was such an interesting read! I had seen a friends review on Instagram and commented how cute the story sounded. I later got a direct message from the author asking if I was interested to read. I’m glad I did! This story was filled with drama, emotions, and I will never look at a plant the same way again. 😳 The writing was enthralling and Jeremy does a great job of conveying emotions— yes plants have emotions too! I have never been a plant person, but this story makes me want to buy a fern!
I would definitely recommend this story for anyone who:
•loves plants
•wants to read something different
•likes short and emotional stories
•loves drama
•looking for a quick and fun read!
