Friends to Lovers by Sally Blakely
4.0

Generally friends to lovers is pretty standard in “don’t want to risk the friendship” being the only reason for the tension. I feel like the author did a good job of using that reason but adding in different reasons and background experiences to make it more complex.
I loved the dynamic between the main characters and the side characters. The mix of the family and chosen family was lovely.
I did feel like the FMC’s mom got off a little too easy at the end. Her behavior was excused as just “caring so much” and maybe this is my own background coloring my feelings on this, but it felt a bit toxic to me.
