I am not a fan of horror, so that part of this review doesn’t count - to each his (or her) own. With horror, I can’t will the suspension of disbelief like I can with certain fantasy novels. Maybe I accept magic that isn’t evil because it’s just a fairy tale. This form of magic just doesn’t work for me - it’s like people taking Halloween goblins seriously. The only evil that exists in the world comes from people making terrible choices.

I liked the relationships and the back stories of the kids. I liked the description of the sewers. I loved all the references to another time in history that my kids will never relate to.

I thought the sexual stuff was unnecessary, and the bit about Bev and the boys in the sewer at the end was a waste of print on the page. It was enough to bring the book from a three to a two for me. I didn’t see any purpose to that, and I can’t imagine what King was thinking. What a way to present a young girl....
