Nothing to Lose by Lee Child
4.0

Child delivers again with another solid Reacher effort. A little over the top with the small town names, but hey, who says life--and fiction--doesn't need whimsy?

One thing that Child consistently does and does again with Nothing to Lose is brilliantly set up his plot and character motivations in the smallest ways over and over again, so even though you may not agree with a turn or even believe that it's plausible, you can't look at the author and say he didn't back himself up in the narrative. This is assuring to me as a reader and I really appreciate how Child does it.

The characters are typically strong again and Child manages to build them right off the page. Simple settings are memorable and characters, even minor ones, are familiar signposts in the story.

I can't recall a Reacher through the first dozen I wouldn't recommend, and Nothing to Lose adds to the list.
