Thank you to Libro FM, Roaring Book Press, Macmillan Audio, and Jenni Howell for the ALC of this book!
This was dark, twisty academia with a philosophical edge. I liked all the vibes - Raven Boys was an accurate comparison. The blur between reality and what you think is happening is GREAT. I was wondering if she was an unreliable narrator or if her thoughts were right or wrong the whole time. This story makes you doubt all of your thoughts. It is slower, which I’m finding is my least favorite part of dark academia. But I did find the story super engaging and I love school academy settings so I’m always here for it. It does pick up some paranormal aspects, so if that’s not your vibe. Jenni’s writing is also phenomenal - it made me feel as if I was there and had great descriptions and imagery. Definitely a fun little ride!
