The Unlikely Adventures of the Shergill Sisters
by Balli Kaur Jaswal
2.5 rounded to 3
This was an interesting story that delved into several heavy topics - gender selection due to feticide, suicide and women's rights. But the unlikeable, frustrating characters with their petty sister squabbles kept getting in the way of the story. Usually unlikeable characters don't bother me, but these characters, especially Rajni, were just so over the top that I couldn't help but roll my eyes and wish the story was over.
