"Once a Queen" è un'incantevole e fiabesca storia fantasy young adult. Segue le vicende di Eva, una ragazza di 14 anni, che passa inaspettatamente la sua estate nel grande maniero di sua nonna in Inghilterra. Qui però succedono cose strane e bizzarre e man mano che svela i segreti della famiglia nascosti nel maniero, scopre anche una mondo di magia e di favole che potrebbe essere più vero di quanto avesse potuto immaginare. 

Mentre Eva cerca risposte, stringe stretti legami con l'anziana governante, il giardiniere e il nipote del giardiniere, Frankie. Questi personaggi aggiungono profondità e calore alla narrazione, guidando Eva nella sua ricerca per scoprire la verità sulla sua famiglia e sull'incantevole mondo che un tempo esisteva.

Uno dei punti di forza del romanzo è l'esplorazione di temi come le relazioni familiari, il dolore e il passaggio dall'infanzia all'adolescenza. Il viaggio di Eva non è solo una ricerca di risposte sul passato di sua nonna, ma anche un racconto di formazione mentre è alle prese con l'idea di crescere e lasciarsi alle spalle le fiabe e la magia della sua infanzia.

In conclusione, è un libro molto gradevole e veloce da leggere. Se ti piacciono le storie di magia, i segreti familiari, i romanzi di formazione e non vuoi leggere un libro troppo impegnativo o con un worldbuilding complicato, questo è il libro perfetto per te!

"Once a Queen" is a charming and fairy tale fantasy story young adult. It follows Eva, a 14-year-old girl, who unexpectedly spends her summer in her grandmother’s grand manor in England. Here, however, strange and bizarre things happen and as she reveals the secrets of the family hidden in the manor, she also discovers a world of magic and fairy tales that could be truer than she could have ever imagined. 

While Eva seeks answers, she forms close ties with the elderly housekeeper, gardener, and gardener’s grandson, Frankie. These characters add depth and warmth to the narrative, guiding Eva in her quest to discover the truth about her family and the enchanting world that once existed.

One of the novel’s strengths is the exploration of themes such as family relationships, pain and the transition from childhood to adolescence. Eva’s journey is not only a search for answers about her grandmother’s past, but also a training tale while she is struggling with the idea of growing up and leaving behind the fairy tales and magic of her childhood.

In conclusion, it is a very pleasant and quick to read book. If you like magic stories, family secrets, coming-of-age novels and don’t want to read an overly challenging book or complicated worldbuilding, this is the perfect book for you!
