First things first I did receive this as an ARC from Elliott Rose
I love love love the Port Macabre series and was so excited to get Poe and her men's story. Poe was an amazing MFC and i loved her so much! After meeting her in Vengeful Gods, I knew I wanted her story so badly and prayed and prayed to get it and it happened! I loved the expansion onto the world of the Anguis and to get a different perspective of someone being initiated rather than born into that world. I also really loved having many chapters from the male perspective rather than just having a majority of it from the Poe's perspective and a couple chapters in either Hawke, Grey or Angel's perspective.
My huge problem with this though was the pacing. It felt like it was dragging along in the middle with the same thing happening in almost every chapter, in my opinion, before finally picking back up. I also felt the ending was rushed slightly. As i was reading I was like 'how are there still 5 chapter's left what more is there?' and then getting that big event, that's been hinted at and knew it was coming since I read vengeful gods first, in one chapter felt kind of like a let down to me. I was just sitting there after reading it like 'oh that's it? okay.'
