I’ve given up on four books in a row (my life’s too short to be a completist) , so it’s a relief to have read one I enjoyed. “The Helios Syndrome” by Vivian Shaw is about a iconoclastic freelance necromancer who has a gig as a consultant to the National Transportantion Safety Board, investigating mysterious plane crashes. It’s a bit quirky, a little spooky, a tad queer and very good. I deeply hope Vivian Shaw writes more stories with this character.
