Before reading All Fours for book club, I was told that people are going to love it or seriously hate it. While the polarizing opinions are likely true for most, I somehow landed in more neutral territory.
A woman in her mid forties decides to take a solo road trip and has an all consuming spiral over her potential drop in libido upon entering perimenopause. Some words that would be great to describe the feel and themes of this book are: “Mid-life crisis, SEXUAL, obsessive, unconventional, eccentric, and suburban white lady drama.” 😂
Honestly I went in with an open mind and this book didn’t really illicit any strong emotions or reactions for me. I didn’t connect to the characters and couldn’t resonate a ton with the FMC either, but think probably several women can and maybe I will at a later point in my life. I also think July is a strong writer, so it was easy for me to finish this in a few days. Not sure if I will pick up more work from her or not, but would only really recommend this to a certain reader who loves an unhinged story and spiral of unlikable characters.
