The Great Siege: Malta 1565 by Ernle Bradford

adventurous informative slow-paced

Imo this would make an AMAZING miniseries. The author offers a peak into what siege warfare is like. The bits about the Ottomans and Janissaries were like crack to me and now I need to go find myself a biography of “greatest pirate warrior of all time,” Turgut Reis (Dragut)!

If you’re a casual history fan (like me), I’d say it’s an easy read! My personal hurdles were the “technical” language that were related to the Ottoman court, ships, and fort construction. Haha Many times I had to put the book down to look things up. Fun book though. Ernle Bradford’s writing is very digestible.
